As we begin today’s post, let’s recap everything we have covered so far in this series because everything we have covered leads to today.
If we believe that the Bible is inspired…
And if we believe that there is one true God and Jesus is the Son of God…
And if we believe that mankind gave into temptation but was provided a path to salvation through Jesus…
And if we believe in being baptized with Christ and partaking in communion to remember what he did for us…
And if we realize that we started on a path of Sanctification and being made holy…
And if we believe the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and the Initial Physical Evidence of Speaking in Tongues…
Then we need to take today's message to heart! What is the only thing that mankind did in the list I gave you other than believing? Sin.
What did God do? Everything else. If all of that is true, then today, when we talk about the church, its mission, and its leadership, it’s about us. So it’s up to us to do what God calls us to do because He has already done so much for us.
Foundational Truth #10
The Church has a mission to seek and save all who are lost in sin. We believe ‘the Church’ is the Body of Christ and consists of the people who, throughout time, have accepted God’s offer of redemption through the sacrificial death of His son Jesus Christ.
The Mission Of The Church | How To Share The Gospel & Lead Someone To Jesus
To participate in the Great Commission, we must be equipped to SHARE THE GOSPEL and LEAD SOMEONE TO JESUS (They are two different things)
We should never share the Gospel without allowing our audience to respond to the message. We should never attempt to lead someone to Jesus without explaining the Gospel.
With that in mind, let's discuss what the Gospel is…
Sharing The Gospel
1. God’s Plan: John 3:16-18
God loved us so much that he GAVE us Jesus.
2. Our Problem: Romans 3:23-24
All of us have sinned. We are lost and separated from God. We will be eternally separated from God eternally in Hell. If we reject God on earth - we will reject Him forever and ever...
3. God’s Remedy: 1 Peter 2:24
Jesus was sent to the cross to take care of our sin issue.
4. Our Response: John 1:12
If we accept Christ, we can receive forgiveness.
Leading Someone To Jesus | ABC’S of Salvation
A) Admit you are a sinner + Repent | Romans 3:23
B) Believe Jesus died for you | Romans 5:8
C) Confess Jesus as Lord | Romans 10:9
Important Reminders When Sharing The Gospel + Leading Someone To Jesus:
Pray For Them
All effective evangelism begins with prayer. It is the Holy Spirit who draws them to repentance + salvation, not our strategies
Invest In Them Relationally
Relationship grants you access to share the Gospel. See Jesus' example in (John 4) with the woman at the well - He engages her relationally and then delivers the good news!
Tell Them Your Story (Testimony)
We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. Your story helps unbelievers relate and connect that if God can change your life - He can do the same for them!
The best way to share Jesus’ message with others is to look at how He did it: not making a sales pitch or arguing someone into faith, but caring about them, speaking the truth, and inviting them to something great: a relationship with God.
Win The Soul, Not The Argument
We cannot argue people into the Kingdom. Logical arguments and clever phrases won’t be enough - we come to God by faith. Don’t become argumentative.
Share The Truth In Love
We cannot water down the truth for anyone. The most loving thing we can do is tell them the truth- even if it isn’t what they want to hear. The truth is the only thing with the power to set them free.
Be Patient
Realize that sharing the Gospel with someone may take time to see any results. We live in an instant gratification society. We want/expect everything right now! That’s not how it works in the Kingdom of God.
Paul said some plant, others water, but only the Lord brings the increase. When you share the Gospel, your story (testimony), etc.,
You are PLANTING / WATERING SEEDS. Don’t get discouraged if someone doesn’t respond to the Gospel immediately. Keep praying. Keep sharing and keep being a light (witness/example).
Foundational Truth #11
A divinely called and scripturally ordained leadership ministry serves the church. The Bible teaches that each of us under leadership must commit ourselves to reach others for Christ, to worship Him with other believers, to build up or edify the body of believers–the Church and to meet human need with ministries of love and compassion.
God’s Plan For The New Testament Church Includes You
Apostles blaze new territory – Missionaries/Church Planters
Prophets proclaim God’s Word and edify (instruct/improve and uplift) us – Prophets, but judge them according to the word of God.
Evangelists share the Gospel message with others – Professional Evangelists, Guest Speakers.
Shepherds guide us through life, and Teachers teach us the word of God – Modern Day pastors.
But all of this exists to build you up, so you can tell the world.
It’s NOT just my job to build this church - it’s ours!
