Nostalgia Can Become Spiritual Drift: Learning to Trust God for What's Next

Most people think spiritual drift starts with rebellion. A dramatic decision. A crisis of faith. A moment when someone suddenly walks away from God.

But more often, drift begins with something that feels far less dangerous: Nostalgia.

Remembering the past isn’t wrong. In fact, Scripture repeatedly tells God's people to remember.

  • Remember God's faithfulness.

  • Remember His provision.

  • Remember His miracles.

  • Remember His promises.

The problem isn't remembering yesterday. The problem is when we start trying to live there. Because eventually nostalgia can become a substitute for faith.

From Chains To Covenant - When You Know God’s Plan… But Still Don’t Want to Move

A lot of people think faith is about clarity.
If I just knew what God wanted, I’d do it.

But that’s not usually how it works.

Sometimes you do know what God is asking—and that’s when the real tension starts.

Because knowing God’s plan and stepping into it are two very different things.

From Chains to Covenant - When God Feels Silent

If you ask most people what the Bible is about, you’ll hear something like: “Jesus died for our sins so we can go to heaven.”

That’s true—but it’s not the whole story.

The Bible is ultimately about how God rescues people and teaches them how to live free… and then sends them to do the same for others.

And nowhere is that pattern clearer than in Exodus.

Exodus is the moment where God takes a people in chains and begins forming them into a people in covenant. It’s where we see Him confront oppression, reveal His name, and move His people from survival into purpose.

But before any miracles happen…
Before the sea parts…
Before Moses steps into leadership…

The story starts in a place most of us recognize…

David – Attributes Of A King | Faithfulness

oday we begin a new series and will take the next several weeks to study David.  We know he was a king; scripture also says he was a man after God’s heart. But what made him tick? What were the unique traits around him?  What can we learn about David that we can apply to our lives?

We are going to be looking at things like…

The Story Of Esther | Rescue Mission

God promises that if you obey Him, He will protect and provide for you. This is the truth we see developed for us in Esther 8.  But too often, we look for loopholes that only make us partially obey. While they haven’t been perfect, Esther and Mordecai have tried to live in obedience to the Word of God and have been attempting to live in a way that honors God.

The Story of Esther | For Such A Time As This

One of the things I have enjoyed about preaching this book thus far is that it's much more like storytelling than just straight preaching.  Almost as if I get to leave you on a cliffhanger each week so you’ll come back for more. And today will be no exception.

At this point in the story we have met the King, Mordecai, Esther, and now Haman…

Roar Of Justice – The Book of Amos | 5 Visions Of Judgement

Today we conclude our Roar of Justice series, as we have taken a three-week dive into the book of Amos.

We have focused on the warnings for the nations and the leaders, specifically Israel, but today we dive into the 5 Visions that lead to Judgement. The interesting thing is Amos’ reaction to these progressive visions.

7 Traits of a Spirit Filled Disciple - The Power of Prayer

This week we reach the middle of our series, “Follow Me” and we are looking at 7 Traits of A Spirit-Filled Disciple. Today’s topic is prayer. So let’s get ready to dive into the topic and hopefully begin to grow your desire to be a person of prayer.

7 Traits of a Spirit-Filled Disciple - The Power Of The Holy Spirit In Our Life

Today we continue our series, “Follow Me - 7 Traits of A Spirit-Filled Disciple.” In our last post, we discussed worshipping in Freedom and specifically mentioned needing to worship God in Spirit and Truth. We need to worship God with our feelings/ emotions AND facts.

We talked about truth or God’s Word in the first week of this series. Today, I want to talk more about worshipping God in Spirit. Specifically the Holy Spirit. Why? Because we are an Assemblies of God church that wants to experience the fullness of the Holy Spirit right here in Saint Clair Shores!

7 Traits of a Spirit Filled Disciple - Worshipping in Freedom

Today we continue our series, “Follow Me - 7 Traits of A Spirit-Filled Disciple.” Today the focus is going to be placed on the topic of worshipping in Freedom. What I need you to understand is that worship is not just singing. Singing can be uncomfortable if we don’t like it or are afraid of what we sound like.
