Trusting God

When Fear Looks Bigger Than Faith

Some problems become the first thing we think about in the morning and the last thing we carry to bed.

  • A difficult conversation.

  • A financial concern.

  • A relationship that keeps getting worse.

  • A responsibility we know we need to face.

We rehearse the possibilities, imagine the consequences, and explain why moving forward feels impossible. Eventually, fear begins shaping our decisions.

That is where we find Israel in 1 Samuel 17.

The Cost of Partial Obedience: What Are You Holding Back From God?

Most of us can explain why we made a difficult decision.

We were under pressure. Someone was counting on us. Waiting seemed irresponsible. Doing the right thing might have cost us a relationship, an opportunity, or the approval of someone we respected.

Sometimes those pressures are very real. But a reasonable explanation does not automatically make a decision faithful.

From Chains To Covenant - When God Leads You to a Dead End

Most people assume that if they are following God correctly, life should immediately start making more sense.

Doors should open. Pressure should decrease. Things should become clearer.

But sometimes obedience doesn’t lead you away from tension. Sometimes it leads you straight into it.

That’s exactly where Israel finds itself in Exodus 14.

After generations of slavery, they are finally free. Egypt is behind them. Chains are broken. The miracle has happened. And then God leads them directly to the edge of the Red Sea.

Water in front of them. Pharaoh’s army is behind them, and mountains surround them.

No escape route.
No backup plan.
No visible solution.

And naturally, the people begin asking the same question we ask when life stops making sense: “God… did You bring us here just to let us die?”
